INFORMATION:
This world title fight will feature two of the top rated female fighters in this division squaring off for the IBA World Junior Featherweight Championship. This is the 2nd female world title fight to be held in Louisiana with a major sanctioning body. The first was Deirdre Gogarty in 1997 who fought Bonnie Canino for the WIBF Featherweight Championship of the World. Ironically, Gogarty is now a consultant to Kasha Chamblin while Canino is the trainer for Chamblin’s opponent, Ada Velez. It is also the first time a female promoter (Mickey Daigle) in the Southern United States stages a female world title fight with a major sanctioning body in a casino.
Chamblin has one loss to Ina Menzer in Germany for the WIBF Featherweight Championship of the World. She has returned with an impressive win over world rated Donna Biggers (19-7-1) to qualify for this world championship. Velez is a former WIBF Americas Featherweight Champion, WIBA Bantamweight Champion of the World, and WIBA Super Bantamweight Champion of the World. She has had 9 title fights.
This is one of the most challenging fights for a World Championship to be promoted in Louisiana.
Please RSVP for attendance. Food will be served.
