Glen Johnson is the real deal, a true fighter, willing to take on anyone, anywhere, at any time. That’s why fight fans affectionately call him ‘The Road Warrior". Unfortunately, that attitude led him into situations where he had to take fights on short notice and was forced to travel into his opponents’ hometowns, garnering more than his share of highly controversial and disputed decision losses and draws for reasons extending beyond his prowess in the ring.

On September 24, 2004, Glen Johnson became IBF light heavyweight champion by effectively ended the career of future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. with a devastating overhand right to the jaw to score a ninth round knockout. Johnson became recognized in most circles as the top Light Heavyweight in the world when he defeated Antonio Tarver in December 2004. Even with the win over Tarver he was not recognized as Lineal Champion by some people such as the Cyber Boxing Zone, who recognized Zsolt Erdei. Tarver defeated Johnson by unanimous decision in their June 18, 2005 rematch, to end his claim as Light Heavyweight champion.
