KEEP PUNCHING
"I can't do it!!" What is the true meaning behind that sentence??with Kerry Daigle YOU'VE GOT TO BE BAD BEFORE YOU CAN BE GOOD It usually means there is a "fear of failure"! Earl Nightingale wrote, "The only people who never fail at anything are those who don't try anything. It is impossible to go through life without fear or failure and self-doubt. We all have a lack of confidence at one time or another. It's like sleeping. We all face that moment in our lives. Successful people have learned to master these feelings of fear and failure. Successful people make more mistakes than unsuccessful ones. They, the successful people, understand what they did wrong and correct it. But first, they had to learn by making the mistake and that meant taking action and learning from your actions vs wondering what would happen if you tried to do something you had a fear of doing. Makes sense?? Maw Maw Daigle always said, "You've got to be bad before you can be good..so go out and be bad a few times. Good will come." Think about what Maw Maw Daigle meant. Every problem, every heart broken, every obstacle, every anxiety, carries with it the opportunity to learn from a mistake. You are going to make some mistakes if you take action. But the word is action and doing something vs. thinking about doing something. Overcoming obstacles means mastering fear, failure, and rejection. That requires the intestinal fortitude to "do something" instead of just thinking about it. You have to ask yourself "What dreams do I have and what if I could reach those dreams without failure?" Would you go for it? Of course, you would. What prevents you is the fear and the rejection or failure. All you have to do is take a deep breath, sit down, and think..."What is the worst thing that can happen?" Make a decision for a plan of action. Unbelievable things will happen to you at that point. Have no fear of failure. Don't worry about failing. Failing has a negative connotation but in actuality it is a step toward your goals, successes, and dreams. Put energy into your efforts and continue with your dream and dream big. Everyone has a tendency to underestimate their own hidden powers, to feel inferior, and give up after making a mistake. When you make a mistake and understand what you did, you need to do three things immediately.
1. Admit you made a mistake
If you follow these simple guidelines you will be stepping closer to success.
Making a mistake and failing "by trying" is only a lesson in life to teach
us to start over again but this time with more experience and intelligence
and understanding that taking the step forward requires some 'risk'.2. Learn from it 3. Don't repeat it Here is a quote that I have carried with me for many years.
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
If you think about it, risks are nothing more than understanding you may make a mistake
and mistakes are not that big of a deal!! Instead, we need to make these mistakes in
order to learn and grow in our personal and professional lives. The problem, in my
opinion, is when we are unwilling to either acknowledge or examine the mistakes we
make so we can become a better, more knowledgeable person from them by accepting
the mistake, acknowledging it, and not repeating it.To reach out for another is to risk involvement To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return To live is to risk dying To hope is to risk despair To try is to risk failure But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live Claimed by their attitudes, they are a slave, they have forfeited their freedom Only a person who risks is free to succeed So next time you hear someone or yourself say, "I can't do it!"....give them a copy of this article and tell them Maw Maw Daigle said.."Before you can be good...you've got to be bad.Have you tried being 'bad' yet? Another lesson from Maw Maw....Keep sending them to me Maw Maw and I'll keep writing. And Maw Maw.thanks for asking me to keep writing no matter how bad the articles seemed to be because as you said if I keep doing what I love to do..sooner or later my 'bad' will become 'good'.
