Being Positive Has Its Challenges
Okay, you say you are ready to start thinking positive. You are sick and tired of being ‘sick and tired.’
You start reading all the positive self help books on personal development and your mind starts to become
a sponge to positive thoughts. You become a sponge for positive affirmations and start each day by
affirming peaceful, contented and happy attitudes and your days start to be pleasant and successful.
Life is changing for you and then all of a sudden it happens.
The negative people start attacking you. You don’t know what to do. Some are friends. Others are peers.
Next is your family. You can’t understand why this is happening to you. You are confused. In your mind,
you feel you are doing all the right things but these people aren’t cooperating. You have these dreams
and this group doesn’t seem to understand your new way of thinking. You must now immunize yourself
against this negativity. You must understand human nature expects to find something as wrong before
it can accept something as right. You must learn how to guard yourself against ‘dream stealers’ and ‘nay-sayers’.
Many people live their lives always worried about what their family and friends think of them. Chances are
they don’t think at all. That is the problem. They live their lives according to the way they think that
their friends and family think that should live. As soon as someone says, “I’m tired of being average. I want
to soar with the eagles,” ‘the masses’ which are the group of ‘chickens’ that they are with will try to
drag them down with the meaningless ‘pecking’.
Understand that what anyone thinks of you is really none of ‘your’ business. At the end of the day, you must
answer to yourself. At retirement, you will either have the life you want for your family, or you will not.
It’s that simple. Others will have no solution for you at that point.
As you journey higher in the sky to soar with the eagles, you will find that there are two basic fears that
are motivating your friends, peers and family to try to stop you. Your family, in most cases, is motivated
with your interest at heart in their eyes. They are living their mindset of the masses and they are not
aware of your own inner strength and the power of the dreams in your heart. They generally are not aware
of their own inner strengths and have probably lost their dreams years ago. Their fear of your failure
is greater than their excitement about your success. At that point you must step out of your comfort zone,
despite their advice. Often times your friends, on the other hand, have a much more selfish motivation
for trying to keep you in the group of chickens. They live by the mindset of the masses as well. They
believe that in order ot get ahead in life, one is either lucky, born into luck, or a con-artist.
In fact, you may find that the key to success is only luck if you ask any one who is a failure.
Strong statement but true.
The negative thinkers also spend their lives blaming others for their failures. They blame the government or
the recession and possibly the gas prices. It is his fault. No, it is her fault. Many failures believe that
the reason for their failure is due to a lack of education or opportunity never passes by them. In reality,
all of this is untrue. We are responsible for our own lives. We choose our own pathway to walk by the
decisions we make every day.
So remember, when you tell your friends that you are going to fly with the eagles, and make great things happen
in your life, you may find they are not as excited as you are about your new plans. You have to understand
when you become successful, you will shatter the myth they live their lives by. You instantly force them
to accept responsibility for where they are in their lives and also where they are going.
The negative thinkers would rather live in their comfort zone. You could be a threat to their whole belief system.
So don’t be surprised when you shoot for the stars, they shoot at your heart.
You must become strong! You must overcome the need you might have to gain the opinions and approvals of others.
When you attempt to change your life, as you are doing right now by thinking positive and reading articles
like this one and books on positive thinking, you will be forced with opposition.
You are different. You have decided to move beyond just getting by. You want to better yourself. What seems
impossible none minute becomes, through faith, possible the next minute. The mind quickly responds to
teaching and discipline. You can make the mind give you back anything you want.
America cannot be the great nation it was destined to be unless we restore to it the faith in the old
American principle of resourceful, resolute human beings standing as individuals for themselves.
Begin where you are. Begin now and remember to always Keep Punching!
