The Power of Journaling

I am always asked, “Why do I need a journal? Not everyone has one.” You are correct with that question and answer. Very seldom do you see people with journals. But then most ‘everyone else’ has a job, works in a position for 25 to 40 years, and plans to retire at the age of 65 generally in a poor financial state. So, naturally, you don’t want to do what ‘everyone else’ does or do you?

I believe people who keep journals are literally light years ahead of those that don’t for many reasons. If you are serious about your business and want to develop a ‘dynasty’ vs a ‘small income’ then you need to journal. Once you are around successful, influential, dynamic, unique people and you hear something that is ‘valuable’ in its information…..you need to write it down in a place so you can find it later. Words from lessons received from successful people written down will be used again.

How many of you have taken notes on tablets, pieces of paper, backs of business cards, napkins, etc only to not be able to find this information when it could prove valuable to you? I know I did for years until I learned from one of my mentors the value behind organized note taking.

What should you pay for a journal? I would say, “Get the best journal you can afford and then start graduating to better ones.” My most recent journal cost over $50. Now, you must say….’why pay so much?’ Here’s my answer. I keep all my journals marked with dated pages. I then do a ‘table of contents’ either in the front or rear….It really doesn’t matter but it keeps my journal organized where I can find my notes on any particular meeting or conversation easily. I then mark my journal with a special pen on the outside and date the time the journal started with month and year to the time it is finished with the month and year. From there it is placed in my library. My journals are private, as yours should be. I can guarantee you one thing, however. My journals, once completed, are worth much, much more than the $50 I mentioned above. Mine are priceless. Yours will be too. Each of my journals are easily worth millions of dollars to me and will be to valuable to you also. That should answer the question as to why I pay so much….and why you should too!!

A person with a journal is dedicated, faithful, loyal, and devoted to their business and their life. They become thought-provoking students of life constantly learning to be more proficient in their journey to success. Million dollar ideas from others are constantly jotted down to study and share with people in your life that are important to your own success and theirs. After all, don’t you want to teach others also? Remember, the saying, “Today you are the student, tomorrow you will be the teacher.” Journaling will bring you from student to teacher and then immediately the next day bring you back to being a student again. The growth from journaling is priceless.

Can you imagine what that journal is worth to you once completed? Next, can you imagine what it is worth to your spouse, your children, your brothers and sisters, and your grandchildren and future generations? You cannot put a price on that information. Once these words of wisdom are jotted down along with certain meetings with your family, friends, and peers along with attending seminars and similar sessions you will constantly have these memories in stone.

Your future generations will look at this treasure and find it so much more valuable than any material item they have ever purchased. It can become a ‘book’ later (if there is a writer in your family) and a guide in life for all those who are able to view your thoughts over the years from the many mentors and teachers you met along the way in your journey.

Have you ever read a book and found that special thought or sentence that really ‘wowed’ you? Your journal is a perfect place to place that thought for later use. I could go on with so many reasons to keep a journal. You should understand the importance by now.

Remember to do all the things the ‘normal’ person will not do. Become abnormal. Abnormal people generally lead abnormal lives. In other words, they enjoy life….they enjoy their families. Normal people make normal incomes. Abnormal people enjoy abnormal incomes. Keep a journal and then putting the information to use will bring you to a level that will propel you to unimaginable success.

Visit your local printing and office supply store or any major bookstore like BOOKS A MILLION or BARNES AND NOBLE. They keep a huge supply of journals in different sizes. Start with an inexpensive one, number your pages, and date each entry. Have people sign them during a meeting with any remarks in reference to your time with them.

Let me know how your journaling goes. Visit our personal development guestbook at www.keeppunching.com and give me your comments and success stories from using a journal because you will have success. It can literally change your personal and financial life in time. I’ll be glad to coach you and teach you what my mentors taught me.

From journaling, I’ve been involved in two best selling CD’s on direct selling and co-authored two books, entitled YOUNG, SLIM, FIT, AND SEXY (www.youngslim.com ) and MASTERS OF SUCCESS with Ken Blanchard and Jack Canfield.

Start writing your experiences, lessons, and notes from private meetings and seminars and special occasions into your journal. Hopefully, six months to a year from now, you will be writing to me about the lessons in life that you learned and remembered and utilized for your benefit to become a better person.

In doing so, I truly believe that DREAMS become FAIRY TALES and then turn into MIRACLES. It has happened to me and can happen to you.

Enjoy journaling.
