LEARN WHO YOU ARE!
Who you are is more important than what you do should you want to
achieve success in your lifetime. Your worth as a person is not based on your education, your grades,
how many hours of work you put in, or the amount of money you make. Achieving financial independence
is something many of us are inspired to obtain, however,
many of us will not achieve that goal without understanding who we are and where
we come from. Sad as it may sound only 5% of the people in the United States make a six figure income.
The other 95% settle for what they can get and don’t attempt to ‘learn’ how to become more successful.
They may be content in the 40 hour work week with a ‘check’ coming in regularly with little time freedom.
Is that bad? No it’s not and that is not going to change much. Some of
the 95% will want to learn how to join the 5% and will make the changes necessary to do so, but
unfortunately most will not. So what is important and what is missing from those who become part
of the 5% and those who don’t?? If your value as a person is not based on the things we mentioned
such as education, grades, how hard you work, or the amount of money you make, then what is
needed is for you to understand the importance of change and understanding how fortunate you are
with what you have right now and then build on it!!by Kerry Daigle First of all if you woke up this morning with more health than illness…..then you are more fortunate than the million who will not survive this week according to the Department of Health. Having traveled across the globe has given me a new value on life and what we have available for us as individuals who reside here in the United States of America. Why is it foreigners can come here to the U.S and barely understand the language but yet build tremendously successful businesses but yet the U.S. born citizen struggles? I strongly feel we as citizens of the U.S. have got caught up in too much propaganda as to WHAT DOESN’T WORK vs WHAT DOES WORK! We thrive on negative media and believe things are bad but yet in this same breath and in this same age and time…… a foreigner who knows nothing about a ‘bad economy’ or ‘bad politics’ moves forward and finds success. The foreigner knows ‘who he or she is’ and understands their situation and the opportunity in front of them. Regardless of the situation and the challenges, they consider themselves fortunate. Here is a fact: If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the battles of starvation…..you are ahead of 500 million people in this world. If you can attend the church of your choice without fear of torture, death, harassment, or the arrest of you and your family……you are more blessed than 3 billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes to wear, a roof or dwelling over your head, and a place to sleep…you are more wealthy than 75% of this world. If you read a book or newspaper today or this week you are more blessed than the 2 billion people that cannot read. So again you ask me why do foreigners succeed while people that live right here in America do not? It is all about understanding who you are vs anything else and understanding your ‘opportunity’ as a U.S. citizen and what is available for you. Let’s talk for a minute about the free financial assistance some of the people receive from the state they live in. State assistance should be a ‘draw of income’ until you can ‘pull yourself together’ to better yourself. Now, you ask, “What does he know about State Assistance?”…….Well, a whole lot! I was raised on state assistance by my grandparents who received a total income of $250 monthly to supply me with my needs. My father, who was blind, received state assistance called AID TO THE NEEDY BLIND, another total of $135 a month. Can you draw yourself out of poverty? Certainly you can, once you understand how fortunate you really are……. regardless of where you are today!! Get control of who you are and remember “KNOWING WHO YOU ARE” is the most valuable asset you have. Know the facts and get out of the negative world your friends and associates may have brought you into telling you about the ‘poor economy’………’bad politics’………’your poor background or education’ ………Being poor is a ‘state of mind’…it has nothing to do with finances. I refused to be poor after finishing high school. I may not have had the finances or education to do what every one else was doing but then I knew ‘who I was’ and I was proud of that. YOU MUST FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT YOURSELF! You must respect and value the opinion of others…..but ultimately you must respect and satisfy yourself and not get caught up in some ‘pity party’ or ‘negativity’. You must practice impulse control by imagining the consequences of your actions. In other words how will you feel after your actions? Are you satisfied with yourself after making a decision that was tough? My philosophy on this is to respond not react. Think about tough situations and sleep on them……even ask others what they think, only taking what they say into consideration and what they recommended wasn’t something that hurt you in the long run. Remember, don’t burn bridges because one day you may have to cross that same bridge again. I’ve experienced this before many times in my business and personal life and many times I wish I could have changed a few things. Now I must make amends and work through the times I reacted vs responded. These are things you can only learn once you’ve decided to take on the task of accepting the fact that you are in a wonderful situation living right here in the greatest country in the world. Now what are you going to do about it? It becomes your choice. Always have your goals and plans written down. Write down personal, business, financial, and academic goals and read them over many times especially when you are in a ‘depressed situation’ or feeling down. Don’t worry about things that go wrong. That’s called LIFE. Concentrate on your successes. Remember that little successes build up to larger successes and failures are a path toward success. Failures mean YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING. Those that don’t ever fail aren’t doing ANYTHING! Give yourself time to change during this process of wanting to achieve some success in your life. Change is difficult and it usually affects many other people around you. Remember, when you make changes in your life for the better not everyone is going to be excited about your new plans. You must move forward by all consequences…………. and be willing to risk failure for something you really care about. If there is something you are extremely fearful of…..do that particular task regularly and the fear will wear off turning your new challenge into a habit. So, when you look at yourself……. take a look at who you are and the opportunites around you, AND REMEMBER, no one is forcing you to achieve success. You must want success and take the challenge on. Don’t waste your time with hostilities towards others and accept and live with your own decisions for change. Very few people will carry pure motivation on their shoulders or chest. You have to just keep moving forward and as I say……Keep Punching no matter how many times you get knocked down. Last but not least……..when you’ve ACCOMPLISHED something you are really proud of…………. REWARD YOURSELF…….you deserve it and no matter how successful you become…… remember who you are and most importantly where you came from. That will follow you the rest of your life.
