AN INTERVIEW WITH THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION

Kerry Daigle will interview three of the most energized and enthusiastic distributors in Louisiana on the Virtual Franchise. We will find out what makes these guys ‘ tick’ and what has excited them to make this business their priorities in life. Dr. Eric Prather, a Chiropractor, originally from a little town of about 3000, Iota, Louisiana, has developed a strong team and hundreds of preferred customers. He will speak about his new home he is building in a fabulous neighborhood and how the Juice Plus Virtual Franchise is ‘paying’ for that dream home of his and wife, Katie, a TEACHER OF THE YEAR in 2006. Dr. Prather has just turned 30 years old and is a Senior Sales Coordinator on his way to QNMD.

Our second guest will be Brad Gaubert, a 27 year old distributor Sales Coordinator working on Senior Sales Coordinator. Brad has over 120 preferred customers and has worked in the fitness industry since a teenager. He has recently left his full time job to be a full time distributor with NSA and may be the best networker and recruiter in the South. He has distributors in his team with the same number of preferred customers as he. He has duplicated himself many times. Brad lives in Lafayette, La.

Our third guest is Travis Broussard, a Qualifying National Marketing Director, is married to Stacy Hulin, a nurse. They are expecting their first child and own their own home in their hometown of Maurice, Louisiana, a community of about 2500. Travis is a full time distributor also coming from the fitness industry being a former two time Louisiana body building champion. By October of 2007, Travis will be walking the stage as a National Marketing Director. He is an enthusiastic speaker and is a student of the nutritional industry. Travis is 24 years old.

27 SECRETS LEADERS DO THAT BRING THEIR VF BUSINESS TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL POSSIBLE

1. A Virtual Franchise leader doesn’t wait until he/she gets a large group before becoming a leader. It can’t work that way, because you would never get the large group if you’re waiting to be leader first! Nor does the leader wait until they feel they possess the knowledge to lead. Rarely they do. My observation is that leaders select themselves by taking on responsibility (the total reason something happens or doesn’t happen), rather than just the desire to lead. Want to be a leader? Go grab enough responsibility that it makes you feel like quitting every day…then don’t quit!! Congratulations, that’s LEADERSHIP. From that basis there are many other skills you can develop.

2. At events, the leader arrives early and reserves chairs for their guests on the front row. Yes, there are normally only two front rows (left and right)…If you’re on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th row – you’re still considered a leader. We spent eight years getting up earlier than anyone else to make sure that our group had the front row. Now we have LEADERS that do the same. What I’ve found is that there are very rarely more than two leaders in any room. Please understand what I mean by this. Once a person gets to a certain level of success they will stop doing these simple leadership things because of ego. They suddenly become “too knowledgeable” to sit and listen to a speaker that has less time in the business than them. If you remain humble and hungry the world is yours. So is the front row, by the way.

3. A true leader realizes that there is a difference between being a leader and being a ‘builder’ of distributors who become leaders. True leaders help develop other leaders. The duplication process of leadership creates a fortune in the Virtual Franchise business. A short tip here; Be a KING MAKER and not the KING !! That’s what real leaders do.

4. The Virtual Franchise “works” under many conditions, but when those relationships between you and your organization become tight and teamwork is created among your distributor base, there’s nothing like it. I do mean nothing. Relationship building is crucial. Read books on the industry, networking skills, personal development and create a reference library for yourself. Great leaders develops ‘teams’ of mastermind groups. Develop yours and your business will move with great ease.

5. Appearance is impeccable for leaders. Even in jeans. When I was a young boy growing up my grandparents were on state assistance and couldn’t afford ‘new’ clothes for me, however, the second hand clothes I did have was always well pressed and very neat. So it’s not about having money to have a good appearance……it’s about having character. Through more teachings of my grandparents and other mentors in my life, I was fortunate enough to retire at the age of 42 if I so chose to.

6. A leader “appears” organized and cool, just like ducks cruising smoothly across the water, however, no one sees or knows how radical and out of control their feet are peddling while still getting awfully wet. Look in charge with your team. Act like a leader……be confident. If you have something negative to say be smart enough to bring it to your UPLINE (Support team) leadership not to your DOWNLINE (Success team). Never bring negative information to your success team. Never.

7. Leaders of people treat their people with respect. Respect means you have a good opinion of their character or ideas. Simply put, you are interested in your people – their ideas, their complaints, their fears, their successes – THEM…..It’s not about YOU …It’s about THEM.

8. As a leader, to develop tremendous success you need to find ten “Top Producers.” Have a 5 year plan for yourself and for them. Don’t shortchange this business. Devote yourself to these distributors. Find three qualities that you like about each distributor. Write those in your journal. Review them frequently, thinking of how you can help bolster one of those skills. Bolstering a skill can be many things – from a good verbal acknowledgement, to giving a telephone headset to someone as a gift who is working hard at making calls, to being their friend when they have a personal crisis, helping with business cards for your new frontline distributors, giving them personal development books to read to help them grow personally. Remember the product is really you…not JUICE PLUS. When you understand this, you will understand why some people make 5 figures a month vs 5 figures a year. Everyone has the same product, the same marketing plan, the same manual, the same distributor support system. The one difference between the highly successful distributor and the average distributor is the highly successful distributor works on him or herself. That is why I am a strong advocate on reading books to improve yourself personally in different areas. Remember, a person who doesn’t read books is no better off than a person who can’t read. A profound statement. Think about it.

9. New leaders are let down often by those they devote themselves to. Why? Because you may have selected the wrong person to devote yourself to. You only get good at “choosing character” as you gain more experience in the business. The track record of your distributor is really the only place to look first. What has your distributor been doing with their time? Most great leaders begin in a hole and find a way to crawl out with a smile. Of highest concern is whether or not the distributor has been advancing. If they’re not, it might take a lot of work on your part. Perhaps more than you have. Every person who’s ever had the tough decision of choosing to lose a distributor knows that this is one of the toughest decisions in our business. Although controversial, do not sink yourself with a non-worker, if doing so won’t save your distributor. Cut away when you feel you’re being pulled under. If you help “able” people, they will help more people. If you try to help an unable or negative person they may sink you on their way down. In essence, stay away from negative distributors. As our manual says, “Work with the workers.”

10. The NSA Virtual Franchise leader gets the Juice Plus “specialist” in front of their group every chance they can so your distributors can bring or invite ‘new’ guests – whether it’s in person, on a conference call, a Prevention Plus session, or a CD or DVD, and especially scheduling 3 ways regularly.

11. A Virtual Franchise leader always gives “back” more. Let’s say you need help from distributor services. You get the distributors on the phone on a three way with a distributor services rep that handles the situation. You know that the service rep really worked hard to help the situation. Yes, it’s their job… BUT, THE LEADER will send that distributor service rep a card or flowers or something to say “thank you for going above the call of duty.” What do you think that distributor service rep will do for your group now? Just about anything!! Gratitude goes a long way. That is why I wrote the chapter on GRATITUDE in the book, MASTERS OF SUCCESS, with contributing authors Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul Fame and Ken Blanchard , a NY Times Best selling author of THE ONE MINUTE MANAGER and other books. More information on this book can be found on www.keeppunching.com. I believe ‘gratitude’ creates ‘character’ which is a much needed component of being an effective leader.

12. At the company conventions the leader will introduce the corporate staff to their organization and vise versa. Every NSA employee there! Take the time to do this because it creates a sense of belonging for both the corporate staff as well as the distributors. Imagine the difference when an employee for NSA has met 25 to 50 real people with dreams and passions about selling JUICE PLUS. Do you think that creates a stronger passion for the employee as well as the distributors to continue working towards the same common goal? Absolutely!!! Then also, don’t forget to introduce your distributors to other successful distributors. Swap business cards. All of this belonging, passion, and relationship building was created because of your leadership.

13. A leader in the Virtual Franchise is a switchboard of information and communication. They’re not “in the loop.” They ARE the loop. If a leader doesn’t have the answer they should know ‘how’ to find the answer.

14. A leader can always be reached by fax, email, cell phone, land phone, or Voice Com. Returned communication should occur in within 24 to 48 hours maximum. If that’s not a possibility you should leave a message on your cell phone or answering system as to your ‘whereabouts’ and ‘why’ you would be unable to be reached for a certain period of time. You should occasionally change your cell or land phone message recording to adapt to ‘new’ things going on within your team such a special meetings and trainings.

15. A leader never exposes weakness and fear to their organization. The leader must always maintain their certainty about the Virtual Franchise and Juice Plus. I’ve never met a person in my life that doesn’t have fear and weaknesses. As a leader you need to overcome that problem right away. If you’ve got fears or doubts about NSA get over those fears or do yourself a favor… get out. Fly or drive to the corporate office immediately and get your concerns handled. Meet with your upline support team to get your questions answered immediately. Come back and be a rock for your group. I guarantee they’ll follow you.

16. Recognizing that everyone is growing, a leader never invalidates the efforts of anyone in his or her organization. One person brings six guests to a meeting, another brings two, and the third brings none. The leader is able to notice that person number three is there – which might have been a major growth step for them. So instead of criticizing them for not bringing a guest – they praise them for being there. That is the value of the Virtual Franchise….everyone works at their own pace. Slow…or …fast. It is their choice ..not yours. Respect their decision, be cordial, but also learn to spend time with the fast ones.

17. The leader is always searching for and praising something about his or her people. “Little babies love praise, but grown men will die for it.” Men in battle will risk their lives for a ¼” x ½” ribbon they pin onto their shirt above their left chest pocket. They wear this ribbon for the world to see. Ignore praise and you’ve missed out on the most powerful tool in your leadership arsenal. Don’t praise for things they are going to do, or you’ll create a person who withdraws from the group because you made them a failure if they don’t succeed. Praise the do’ers. Remember acknowledgement is crucial for the worker. Once someone has done something to grow their business such as making VF, Sales Coordinator, etc. or qualifying their business…always, always, acknowledge them with a plague, pin, book, or gift of acknowledgement.

18. Leaders are always ethical examples in their business. If you “sneak” your people past the registration table you’ve just ruined their perception of who you are and what you represent. They can never trust you and they shouldn’t. You’ve got one shot at doing this right.

19. A leader creates alliances with national and international groups to ensure their group has support and representation. If no group exists, build it. Develop relationships with sidelines. Work hard to build relationships with the sideline leaders and make them part of your trainings, etc……the rest will come back to you ten-fold.

20. Leaders are more concerned about the growth of their people than the growth of their check. Focus on the growth of your people, your check will take care of itself.

21. A leader always tries to include working distributors with success stories in their events. For example: Another leader/distributor calls and says, “We’d like you to speak and present a Virtual Franchise or Prevention Plus presentation.” You should accept graciously, and then ask “Would it be possible for me to include a new leader named “Nancy”? They’re a good speaker and are building a strong business and I would love to share the stage with them.” See, a true leader wants his or her people to be leaders.

22. A leader never, ever speaks ill of anyone – even if that person deserves it. Be aware of the one who speaks harshly about others.

23. A leader acknowledges other leaders in the room, such as NMD’s, Medical Professionals, and speakers. For example: “We are honored to have in the room with us Mrs. Jones. She conducts business meetings and Prevention Plus Sessions in the Tyler, Texas area.” This creates acknowledgement to the leader who is doing trainings etc in other areas and at the same time gives the distributors in the room another ‘person’ and ‘location’ to work with while meeting them personally. Very powerful.

24. A leader has a crystal clear vision about NSA and where the company is headed. A strong leader knows just as much about the company as they do about Juice Plus.

25. A leader will use the Virtual Franchise Manual and teach others to do the same. Physicians and attorneys have reference books, librarians and teachers do also. No one person has all the answers. That is why the manual is a crucial element in not only building your business correctly but crucial in the duplication process.

26. An incredible leader is good at asking questions more than talking and trains themselves to be strong listeners. Work on your listening skills and teach your team to do the same. Great leaders will immerge. You heard the saying; TODAY THE STUDENT ..TOMORROW THE TEACHER. Great leaders immediately become students after they finish teaching. Always go back to being a student after teaching and training. Good leaders turn into GREAT leaders by learning. Always, always, be a student.

27. A leader, after reading and listening to this list does at least one item everyday.
