One of the most intriguing fights of the year will take place on Sept. 2nd, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.      James Toney and Samuel Peter will get it on, so to speak in an important heavyweight fight.     Peter, is a big banger from Nigeria, with a predictable going forward, looking for a knockout style. His only loss was to a much taller Wladamir Klitschko.

Talkin Boxin       8/27/06 - Howie Reed
Many things in life have to be put in perspective. With college football season on the horizon I'm sure that I'll forget that statement but it's always good to start with good intentions. As Irene Maude used to say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." I'll be traveling on a Super Highway.

No one should be shocked that Paul Williams knocked out Sharmba Mitchell in an HBO televised fight on Saturday night. What could be considered a surprise is how easily he handled the former two-time champion, scoring a 4th round knockout.

What did the Rahman – Maskaev fight mean for the heavyweight division? Mainly that the top American heavyweights have gone the way of American top tennis players, they have aged and pretty much no longer exists.
Congratulations to the aging Russian on his TKO win, but does it have much impact on the heavyweight division? Will James Toney step up to the plate and fight Oleg Maskaev, if he beats Sam Peter in LA on Sept. 2? One thing for sure, no matter how you feel about “Lights Out”, he doesn’t duck anyone.

A welcomed large, noisy crowd at Montbleu Casino in beautiful Lake Tahoe, was on hand on August 5, where both Marquez brothers scored KO wins against surprisingly tough-chinned opponents.
The action was held outdoors, for the first time since 1991. The weather was great and the throng receptive.

Snipes and Savarese prove they're 'Real Champions'     8/9/06 - Mike Indri
The Retired Boxers Foundation held their 4th Annual "RBF Comedy Club Night" fundraiser, July 22nd, at the Bananas Comedy Club in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Former heavyweight title contenders Renaldo "Mr." Snipes and Lou Savarese, along with current welterweight prospect Kendall Holt, showed their support by attending the yearly show

Pawel Wolak impressive in KEA Boxing's return!     8/8/06 - Mike Indri
Polish fighter remains undefeated in hard fought battle vs. Sharpe.
Talented middleweight Pawel "The New Raging Bull" Wolak faced the biggest test of his young professional career at the KEA Boxing promoted fightcard in Whippany this past Friday night (Aug. 4th), and the gritty Polish fighter practically aced the exam, proving he is for real.

Aucoin faces first fight since winning IBU title     8/4/06 - Dan McDonald
It seems like only a few weeks ago that Bobby "The Bayou Bomber" Aucoin won the International Boxing Union's U.S. light welterweight title.
Now, six weeks later, the Scott product is preparing for another bout, this one coming Aug. 12 when he's part of the "Fight Night" card at Paragon Casino in Marksville.

Don't mark your calendar for Evander Holyfield's return to the ring in August. Like so many others that fight well past their prime, Evander, once an all-time great, has become an embarrassment to our sport, and we shouldn't support him live or on TV. Maybe that's the only way he'll get the message.

Garcia making up for lost time       8/3/06 - Peter Lim
"I want to be as active as possible," Garcia said. "I'd like to step it up. If it's an early knockout I'd like to fight again in a week-and-a-half or two weeks. I'm in shape already and if I knock them out early, there's no sense in sitting around and waiting for another fight to come up two months later.
