Casamayor Joins the Cruise for Page/McClellan
Former jr. lightweight champion Joel Casamayor, from
Cuba and his wife, will be joining the Ringsports.com team on their
Thanksgiving cruise to raise money for injured ring warriors Greg
Page and Gerald McClellan.
“Giving back is the true test of a champion”,
Ringsports.com managing editor Rusty Rubin stated. “A true
champion should truly represent his sport and Casamayor does that
and much more.
“Casamayor who’s only loss was to Acelino
Frietas, is based in Florida and unquestionably has the heart of
a real champion.
“We’d love to see move fighters put their
name on the line for this great cause, and while I understand that
many have upcoming fights and prior commitments, that doesn’t
mean they can’t help by donating items to be auctioned off.
There is absolutely no reason why everyone can’t lend a hand!”
The cruise, will leave out of Miami on Nov. 23 and return
on the 30th. The cruise ship will go to Cozumel, Ocho Rioz and Grand
Cayman Island, and boxing parties will be featured for those who
choose to attend.
Casamayor joins legendary trainer Angelo Dundee who will
bring along some Muhammad Ali fight films for show, and talk about
Ali’s greatest fights.
All proceeds will go to the families of Greg Page and
Gerald McClellan for their ongoing care.
Any financial donations to the cause can be made through
the Retired Boxers Foundation, who have been very active in this
important cause.
The Los Angeles based World Boxing Hall of Fame has also
endorsed our endeavor to raise funds for these two former ring greats.
