The “Ding-a-Ling Man” Man Has Arrived!

Duva Boxing wishes to congratulate their three victorious warriors after Friday’s outstanding ESPN2 broadcasted event from sold-out Scranton CYC Center.

In the main event, the newest addition to Duva Boxing’s stable, Darnell “Ding-a-Ling Man” Wilson (21-5-3, 18 KOs) served notice to the world that he is a dire threat to the 200-lb world champions by scoring a crushing third-round knockout over former IBF king Kelvin Davis.

“With his impressive performance, Darnell left little doubt in anyone’s mind that he is a legitimate top contender,” said Duva. “What he did to Kelvin Davis, he could do to any other cruiserweight in the world and promotional partner Sal Musumeci and I are dedicated to getting him a title fight as soon as possible.”

The victory over Davis was Wilson’s third consecutive stoppage of a rated contender. He took out Daniel Judah in four rounds last September and crushed O’Neil Bell conqueror Dale Brown in two rounds in January.

In another of the televised bouts, Duva Boxing’s 21-year-old undefeated heavyweight Mike Marrone (17-0, 13 KOs) passed an important test by dominating formidable trialhorse Jermell Barnes and scoring a unanimous decision over six.

“Mike showed how much he’s developed by staying in control against a guy with a lot of experience against good competition. We think he’s ready for a showcase against a rated contender.”

And on the undercard, Pernell Whitaker-trained Raymond Biggs Jr., (5-0, 5 KOs) kept his perfect record and wowed the crowd with a first-round stoppage of Colorado’s David Marquez.

“I believe Raymond Biggs is one of the best prospects in all of boxing and with a legend like Sweet Pea training him, he’s ready to start becoming the future of the welterweight division.”

Duva says he hopes Friday’s event was the start of a good thing for one of his favorite fight towns. “(Co-promoters) Chris Coyne and Maury Mehne of Northeast Boxing did a great job, and I’m looking forward to working with them again in the near future. We put on a great show for Scranton and they responded by filling up the CYC Center with fans. Overall, it was a great night for boxing and we’re happy to have been part of it.”
