Greg Page Foundation, Inc. fund raising dinner and silent auction

What if you or your loved one were suddenly faced with living the rest of your life with a disability? Imagine for a moment the life altering changes and decisions that accompany the disability. Where do you go for support, assistance with medical bills, after care and transportation to name a few? The list can be endless.
Rusty Rubin These are a few of the challenges faced by the family of former World Boxing Association Heavyweight Champion Greg Page. Greg suffered a severe brain injury that left his left side paralyzed during a bout on March 09, 2001. The brain injury, while devastating both physically and mentally, was only one of the many obstacles Greg's family faced. Approximately 360,000 reported disabled people and their families in Jefferson County face similar obstacles. For the Page family and many of the families of the 360,000 disabled, there is a challenge of locating the appropriate resources and information to help cope. While probing, seeking and researching for what assistance might be available, it became clear that there are and were services and information accessible; however, the process for obtaining the services was not clear.

After meeting with several service agencies, each reported that their services were available to all regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Some of the agencies reported that there are a disproportionate number of African American people reporting that they or a family member is affected by a disability; however, agencies are having difficulty in reaching the African American community.

It soon became apparent that there is a community wide problem. Thus the Greg Page Foundation, Inc. was formed. The Greg Page Foundation Inc is a 501 (c) 3 organization that will assist individuals living with disabilities and their families with accessing information and services in a user friendly atmosphere.

On Saturday, June 16, 2007, the Greg Page Foundation, Inc. will be hosting its first fund raising dinner and silent auction at the Louisville Galt House. Your business can gain immeasurable exposure, publicity and a tax receipt by donating an item to our silent auction. If you or your business do not have something to donate, we would gladly accept monetary contributions so that additional auction items can be obtained and your business would be acknowledged as a contributor.

I know your company's generous donation will assist greatly in the silent auction bidding. Any amount of generosity will be greatly appreciated. An acknowledgement of your contribution, along with your business’ name will be featured in our events’ program and the local newspaper.

Living with a disability and all that it encompasses is a reality for many here in Jefferson County alone. I would like to extend my appreciation to you for taking the time to read this letter and for anything your business can donate. I look forward to hearing from you.
