Rusty has been in boxing for over four decades as he continues to write into his 60’s and promote and publish his magazine with the assistance and support of his wife, Lois. An award winning journalist, Rusty was chosen by the American Association for the Improvement of Boxing in 1991 as EDITOR OF THE YEAR and in 1993 the INTERNATIONAL BOXING FEDERATION (IBF) chose him as the IBF WRITER OF THE YEAR. The year of 1998 saw Rusty inducted into BAY AREA HALL OF FAME in San Francisco, California. Rusty and a friend, Susie Walker, also founded GLOVE TO GLOVE, a non-profit group that promotes the image of the sport of boxing and well as allowing boxers and their families in need or prayers and cards.
